Can I Get a Grrr...? Vegan Moon by Kerri Nelson releases today!

Chat with Kerri Nelson and win a Gift from Made in California (http://www.madeincalifornia.net/) as we have a howling good time launching the first novella in my California Wolf Code Series...Vegan Moon.

Today I'm celebrating my 9th book release (and my 2nd from Eternal Press)!

So we're talking about puppy love...

or erm doggie style...

or erm men who turn into animals from time to time...

Also known as werewolves.

I'd love to hear from all the werewolf lovers out there. Why do we love them? Aren't they just men with too much hair? What exactly is the appeal?

Are there really werewolves living amongst us?

Here's a list of "how to spot a werewolf" as borrowed from www.mythicalrealm.com:

As with witches, finding a werewolf largely seems to be a matter of looking hard enough. Some of the warning signs, according to the world's myths, are:

* Red hair
* Born on the 25th of December
* Eyebrows join in the middle
* Index and middle fingers are of the same length
* Love of rare or raw meat
* Hairs on the palms of the hands
* Hair on the inside of the skin (that seems like a tough one to check!)
* Will change back to a human if you throw a piece of iron or steel over its head when in animal form.

I found this very interesting. I'm imagining all the redheaded, unibrow, guys I know. Ummm...that would be NONE! LOL

I certainly hope these are not the correct characteristics of a werewolf while in human form. As it makes them seem most unattractive. In Vegan Moon, Santiago is my sexy, South American werewolf who has given up eating meat all together. He's gone "California style" and living in sunny California brings about many challenges for an old werewolf and his werewolf order.

Why California?

I just thought it would be fun to imagine a large population of wolves living in populated California cities with no one the wiser.

Plus, the state is home to the California Wolf Center (www.californiawolfcenter.org) where you can go to learn all about wolves in California and even view their wolf cam! Here are some interesting wolf facts from their website:

How strong are wolves' jaws?

The wolf's jaw can exert 1500 pounds of pressure per square inch, twice the jaw pressure of a German Shepherd. Wolves can crush large bones in just a few bites.

Kerri's comments: Ouch!

What is the social structure of the pack?

There is an alpha male and alpha female who are the leaders of the pack. They are also the most likely pair to breed. The beta wolves’ are in second position and finally the omega wolf is in the lowest position within the pack.

Kerri's comments: A sexy alpha male hero, anyone?

How do wolves communicate?

They communicate is a variety of ways. Vocalizations include howling, growling, whimpering, whining, and barking. They also communicate by eye contact, facial expressions, and body movement and posture. Scent marking is also used.

Kerri's comments: Or they just call you on the phone (see my book for details).

Are you a fan of werewolves? If so, join the pack and enjoy Vegan Moon--the first in my California Wolf Code series. Give it a chance...I double dog dare you.

Hi Kerri

Congrats on the new release. I love werewolves. If for nothing else than a warm fur coat to sleep next to. :)

I found the iron/steel thrown over an animal a new trait I hadn't seen before. I wonder what animal would stand still long enough for you to do that?

I like the strong alpha male with the ability to be responsible. Someone who can be serious and take charge but still knows when to play.

Wow, Kerri, how wonderful. You should come out and visit me and go tour Jack London's Wolf House in Sonoma! We could go to a couple of wineries and really celebrate.

Congratulations. I'll bet I'll love this one too!

Hi Kerri

Great post. I 'm a dog and wolf lover (as well as a horse lover) so I guess that makes me a wherewolf lover too! :)

WOW there are werewolves in California? I guess since I live in the mountains in a small community that I need not worry - right Kerri? We have bears and mountain lions, but I'd think with their deadly good looks that werewolves might be more dangerous.
