Dock and Write on Day #11
“Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.”
--Anton Chekhov
What I'm writing?
Book: The Cable
Starting Point: Page 101
Today's total word count: 1673 (luckily got it in before massive kid sicky situation)
What I'm reading?
Book: California Demon by Julie Kenner
Starting Point: Chapter Four
2 Chapters Completed: Nope
Today's Book Note: Zilch (Boo Me!)
Kerri's Progress Notes:
Didn't even get my progress notes written today, but I did get my words in early. Yay for me because afternoon went rapidly downhill with stomach virus kid #2 and tornado warning. Oh, and did I mention that my eldest daughter's school dismissed 2 hours early and thus completely changing my entire daily schedule?
Prepare for interruptions to stand between you and progress. They can and will occur.

When I was a kid, black and white had been perfected but color was still grainy.
Where was I going?
Oh, right.
If I got in trouble there was usually no discussion at all. I was grounded. Sometimes, spanked even into my teens.
I was the second of eight and it went like this..
If, for example, number five of eight got into trouble, one through four got in trouble, too, for not watching the wayward number five.
Sally will be back later with her word count.
Don't touch anything sharp.
What I'm writing: Spring Eternal, word count 1076.
What I'm reading: Dangerous Hour by Marcia Muller. Read 4 chapters--done. Will pick up Steven King's Jessie next (Jessie, btw, is also the name of a character in a thriller that was just accepted by my publisher). I don't read King all that often, but I like the non-supernatural ones better.
Progress note: Today was a day with many errands (battling allergies too). Plan to do more writing tomorrow, along with some writer-ly paperwork.
What I'm writing?
Book: The Meteorological Thaumaturgist
Today's total word count: 1030
Progress Notes: I checked my totals for the month and I've written 11,758 words this month. Yay me!
What I'm reading?
Book: Two Silent Cries by TN Tarrant
1K Completed: Yes!
Book Note: The model on the cover of this book looks cross-eyed. But I don't think the character is (at least, he's not described that way). Why would the cover artists draw him that way?
I am still without title at 11,172 words. Selina turned the tables on a stalker and made him strip off his clothes in a park.
The book I am reading makes me want to go to South America, but I already said that.
Some of Stephen King's work is crazy good, other titles, well, not so much. I can hardly wait to see how Under the Dome is adapted for TV. It airs in June.

I had hoped to write tonight but my project today took a lot longer than I anticipated.
For over a year, I've been meaning to setup an etsy store for the chainmaille jewelry I make on the side. While I was waiting for my taxes to print (all 141 pages), I started adding my pieces to an etsy story. What took the most amount of time was entering the sales tax information by zipcode. Uggg...why can't the state use one percentage for every county.
So I have no reading or writing accomplishments. But I do have an etsy store - http://www.etsy.com/shop/StarlightFallsDesign
What am I writing?
Two short stories. One I received a personal rejection on & sent it out to two other markets. The second one I received back from the editor and glanced at the suggestions. I'm pleased.

What am I reading?
Book: The Athena Project. 6 chapters, 3,000.
Day 11:
What I'm writing?
Today's total word count: 1,376 WOOHOO!!!
What I'm reading?
Chapters Completed: ch. 16
I’m jumping up and down and doing cartwheels. That’s a record for me. At least, since I’ve gotten back into writing again as of January. In fact, other than missing the weekend, which I would’ve done anyway, this is the most I’ve written consecutively in like forever. Man, does that ever feel good. Woohoo!!!!

I did go through some notes on feedback I've received on the first pages of this WIP. Tonight, I am determined to get 1K words written.
Book: That Scandalous Summer by Meredith Duran
2 Chapters Completed: Yes
Today's Book Note: I am warming up to the heroine. She's become more likable.
Wow. Your life sounds a lot like mine. Well, minus the sick kid, tornado, and all that. But I've gone through days very similar to those. Replace tornado with blizzard and a cold I'm fighting off, and we're talking.
My husband just talked to a farmer today, and he said this time last year, they were planting their crops. Not this year. Not unless they have special machines to penetrate the snow and ice. Damn Old Man Winter. Get the hell out of here. Heh.
