Day 4: Read 1K Write 1K Challenge Cooks On

Scramble Onward into Day #4

“I don’t care if a reader hates one of my stories, just as long as he finishes the book.”
—Roald Dahl, WD

***UPDATED***

 What I'm writing?

Book: The Cable
Starting Point: Page 101
Today's total word count:8763

What I'm reading?

Book:  California Demon by Julie Kenner
Starting Point: Chapter Four
2 Chapters Completed:No
Today's Book Note: Too much writing and editing!

Kerri's Progress Notes:
Nice to see a solid 10 folks or so sticking with the daily reports!  Proud of all of you.

I'm hanging in there, met my challenges yesterday despite TWO (count 'em) TWO cut fingers.  Have I self sabotaged my own fingers to make the challenge tougher, one might ask?  Ugh.  Ouch.  Double Ugh.

Hanging in there despite the bandages.  Typos abound.

Back tomorrow for more updates.  I've commented on all the reports (see prior days).

Later gators!

Some of the writing will hit the edit floor as I pluck out the salient details with tweezers but it's a good writing day.

Okay, I have 4065 words but my program doesn't count the notes I make on characters, items or places in the total word count.

The book I am reading is chock full of dysfunctional characters. I don't know for sure but I think I can predict most of what is going to happen. Just sayin...

What are all of you up to?

What I'm writing?

Book: Still not happy with the steampunk western book name (but I have some great steampunk words like thaumaturge and fulmination I'd love to be able to use)
Today's total word count: 1208
Progress Notes: Had to rely on 15 minutes sprints in order to get any writing done today due to full load of work, webinar, doctor's appointment, dinner with hubby, and full hour of exercise.

What I'm reading?

Book: Expedition to the Mountains of the Moon by Mark Hodder
1K Completed: Yes!
Book Note: Hodder's descriptions of the interior of Africa are breathtaking. I wish I was on the expedition with Burton (although I'd like to forego the malarial fever).

What I'm writing:

Book - Starlight Treasures
Words - 543 words
Still low but they came a bit easier today.

What I'm reading:

Book - Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts
Chapters - 8 chapters; ~121 pages.
Got two chances to read today instead of one. I'll finish this book soon and have to find another. At least it'll be finished for book club next week.

Day 4:
What I'm writing?
Today's total word count: 675

What I'm reading?
Chapters Completed: ch. 12

Well, I didn’t meet my “big” writing goal, which is 1,000 words, but the twins had photos taken for dance class, and I lost almost two hours there, so I can’t beat myself up over that. I did meet my “realistic” writing goal, which is to write every day. Yay!

Great word count! Woot! Woot!Fabulous writing day for you.

@Linda Bell~

Great! You got your words in and moved 2 projects along. Sweet!

@Sally~

I'm hanging in here with cut fingers and a sick kid. You are doing fantastic. 4K+ is faboo!

@Aidee~

Love that you're using the sprints and you made the word count! Don't fret on the title. It will come to you when you least expect it.

@Beth~

Your totals are picking up. Stick with it. Jealous of your book club. Wish I had one here and that I had time to attend one!

@Lynnette~

Yep. That's what it's all about. Writing every day. Getting published. Staying published. Hope the pics come out great!

Day 4 -

What I'm writing: Nash Bk 1
Today's word count: 343

What I'm reading: The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts
Starting point today: Chapter 9 (page 126)
Chapters read: 1

Again I missed my 1000 word count goal, but I did manage some words. And the daily progress is something I've not done in quite a while, so I'm happy that I'm at least writing some each day.

Thursday was a total bust for me. I had company and I had to teach a class and grade some of the 35 tests generated from it. But I did do some reading late that night.

@BetsyG~

Hey, I'm in the same boat. Writing every day is the key with this challenge. Some days are good and some of bad. See my Day 5 issues. Keep doing a little all along and you'll score big in the end.

@Jordan~

Hey, I understand being tired. Be sure to take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Keep those brain cells in order! You are kicking bootie in the challenge!

@Cynthia~

I'm having trouble meeting my reading challenge as well. Must strive to do better. Yay on your word count!

@Teresa~

Busted Out days happen. I know you'll more than make up for it as we go along. No doubt in my mind!
