Day 6: Read 1K Write 1K Challenge Chomps On

Feeling Nutty is Normal Into Day #6

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
- Douglas Adams
***UPDATED***

What I'm writing?

Book: The Cable
Starting Point: Page 101
Today's total word count:7, 142 (making up for lost days)

What I'm reading?

Book:  California Demon by Julie Kenner
Starting Point: Chapter Four
2 Chapters Completed:Yep
Today's Book Note: Needed that laugh out loud today when she continued her battle with the "demon" PTA mom.  Love it!

Kerri's Progress Notes:

Bad writing day yesterday.  I blame it on the 500 loads of laundry and constant vomit-patrol I was required to deal with courtesy of stomach virus which attacked my 5 year old.  Aargh!

But, I'm back today and will do my best to move forward and up the word count.  Plus, I vow to plunk my butt down and read this evening.  I need an escape!!!!!!!

Everyone is doing well.  Keep it up and try not to go nuts.

What am I writing?

Today only on 1st Act of Sidonia, book 2. Got the Scrivener cards filled out for bears of each story. 1,089 words.

I would have quit soon, if not for this challenge.

What am I reading?

I tried to read another story from Horror 4. It was one of those Terribly Confusing types, but this one had no "Need to Find Out What/Why to keep me reading. I got through 1/3 of the pages, so I'm claiming:

1,000 words read.

I did 1043 word today and edited two chapters. Critiqued two chapters for other people and I'm reading Lover At Last by JR WARD. I'm halfway through the book.

Okay, it wasn't easy with the distractions I am encountering. I wrote a bit of a back story for my antag. It won't see print, I'll be using it in a character file.

I have 6,108 words.

I am still reading The Testament, I can't remember how far I am into it. My Kindle Touch updated software last week and now it tells me how many minutes it thinks it will take me to finish a chapter.

Now, my Touch does just about everything the pagewhite
bragged about. I am glad I held off buying it.

It was a rainy day today but I can see springtime nudging up to the road edges and tiny buds are on our quaking aspens. It would be nice to have a warm enough day to go outside and write in the shade.

But, this is Montana, after all. We have two seasons. Winter and July. I think snow is in the forecast for Monday or Tuesday.

Book: All that We Have by Randi Shane
1K Completed: Yes!
Book Note: Father/son relationships are complicated by guilt on both sides.

@Jordan~

Hey, Jordan. What's your today's word count only? Versus the stopping place for the day. I'm guess you didn't write 20K today? And happy birthday to sister! Squee!

@Barbara~

You made it. 1K. Hooray! Happy Sunday back atcha!

@Linda Bell~

Glad you didn't quit! Keep it up. I'm counting on you to stick with me!

@Teresa~

Great job! How're you liking that JR Ward book? Can you believe I've never read any of those?

@Sally~

Is the 6108 just for Day #6 only or all total for the challenge? I want to give credit if you wrote 6K today. I hear you on the seasons. In the south we have the opposite. We have sprall(a spring fall combo that comes twice a year) and hell (summer).

@Aidee~

Hmmm...well the title is very intriguing but I can't pronounce it. :-D P.S. Check out Day #7 post for some good news for you!

I've read the whole series. Jessica was a member of our home RWA chapter until recently. So I read her Jessica Byrd books before she started this series. I'm enjoying the book. It's a Male-Male romance this time. And has an interesting side conflict. I have my favorites of the series, of course. I think Lover Eternal Rhage's book is my favorite.
It's amazing how gritty and dark they are compared to her Jessica Byrd books.
But then we all have different voices when we write different genres. I have one for historical, one of the SEAL books, and something else for the fantasy.
Maybe we all have split personalities and that's how we write all these different characters.

@The Book Boost

I started out with 13,607 when I started writing yesterday. I didn't put the exact amount because I was lazy. :) It was around 6,669 words. :)

Book: Emma Whitewood (working title)
Today's total word count: 0 :(

Book: And the Miss Ran Away With the Rake by Elizabeth Boyle
2 Chapters Completed: Finished the book.
Today's Book Note: Invading thoughts of a certain gentleman

More party prep. Tired at the end of a day of cleaning and some cooking for party on Sunday and wound up curling up with the book at the end of the day and finished it. I will need to find a new book to read.

Total for the week is 4663. 2946 words for the short story. 1717 for the chapter of my SEAL book.
I've critiqued a bunch of chapters and edited two of my own.
I'm hoping to do better next week.

@Teresa~

I definitely have split personalities when it comes to genres. I write so many different ones that it is hard to keep up. Hey, your week totals are fantastic.

@Jordan~

Wow! Your word counts are consistently awesome! Keep it up!

@Cynthia~

Oooh...let us know what book you choose next. I've been exhausted all weekend as well. No sleep for the Mommy.
